JIANGNAN ist ein Worker-Placement-Spiel für 1 bis 4 Spieler. Jiangnan kann als einzelnes Szenario oder in mehreren Kampagnen gespielt werden. Ihr seid Literaten und Handwerker der elitären Oberschicht, die in Jiangnan, der prosperierenden Region südlich des Qinhuai-Flusses, leben und über große Kenntnisse in Literatur, Kalligraphie, Pinselmalerei sowie Musik und darstellender Kunst verfügen. Aber ihr benötigt auch bürokratisches Geschick, um die Aristokratie zu lenken und zu leiten, damit sich Ihr Werk vom aktuellen Trend zu einem zeitlosen Klassiker entwickelt, der noch in Tausenden von Jahren besungen und studiert wird. In JIANGNAN zieht ihr Aktionsplättchen aus dem Beutel und setzt eure Figuren entsprechend der gewählten Orte ein. Damit platziert ihr auch die Figuren für die Wertung, die am Ende bestimmter Runden ausgelöst wird. Sorgt dafür, dass die Elemente gewertet werden, bei denen ihr auch Punkte erhalten könnt. Und wählt die Aktionsplättchen aus, die dir in den weiteren Runden zur Verfügung stehen.
