Yeah, I’ve only played it with three, four, or solo so far, but it works great with two as well. It’s basically a race (more of an endurance thing) and the other players occasionally get in your way. With fewer than four players, some action spaces get linked and count as occupied if the one next to it is occupied. That doesn’t stop you from taking the action, but you get less movement bonus for it.
