Der Hobbit: Hin und Zurück

We wrapped up our own little Hobbit adventure to the Lonely Mountain yesterday. 'The Hobbit: There and Back Again' is a superbly illustrated Roll and Write. Each Hobbit gets their own washable book telling Bilbo’s journey in 8 chapters. Each chapter comes with its own rule set—usually, we have to draw the most efficient path from A to B faster than the other players. The changing rules are easy to grasp, and the puzzles are genuinely fun. The book’s climax doesn’t quite land though, since each chapter ends up feeling pretty similar in hindsight. But for 2-3 chill game nights without a long rule study, it’s totally worth a try.
