Great Western Trail: Argentina

I was pretty skeptical about the new editions of Great Western Trail at first, especially since I already own the original game with the Rails to the North expansion. The Second Edition with those cowboy meeples that keep toppling over because of their ridiculous hats still feels unnecessary to me. It just seemed like they replaced Native Americans with bandits because calling them "Indians" fell out of fashion. But I *do* really like the two spin-offs, GWT New Zealand and GWT Argentina. They keep the core idea but tweak it slightly and focus on different things. New Zealand adds that sheep mechanic with shearing and a bit more deckbuilding thanks to extra action cards. Argentina, on the other hand, is all about shipping goods, securing spots in the destination ports, and making sure you’ve got enough grain production. Yeah, the games are too similar to need all three, but I’m happy my group now has all of them so we can take turns playing each one.
