Hey, I just got to know Old Kings Crown today. While my fellow players really liked the game, I felt my (albeit narrow) victory was kinda unsatisfying because of how confusing all the micro-rules are—especially since they keep changing asymmetrically with every card. It reminds me a lot of Inis, which gives me the same meh feeling when I play it. It uses the same mechanic I mentioned earlier. Not sure if that mechanic even has a name...
I guess if you're into Inis, you'll probably dig Old Kings Crown too.

Thanks for your input! I'll check out the game at SPIEL to see what it's like. I've only played Inis with two people so far, and it was pretty fun, but with just two players it gets too easy to figure out. I'd need to try it with a bigger group to really form an opinion.

Spannend to hear - I've stumbled across the game online a few times already, and it's really tempting me. But when I hear about the micro-rules... hmm... that probably means you need a group to play it multiple times in a row for it to run smoothly/be fun, right? In my group, it can sometimes take months before a game comes up again...
