„Cover Up“ ist ein asymmetrisches, auf Deduktion basierendes Krimispiel für 3–5 Spieler. Die wohlhabende Erbin Eleanor Louise Duke wurde tot in ihrem abgelegenen Landhaus aufgefunden. Ein Ermittlerteam muss die Wahrheit aufdecken, bevor der Mörder der Gerechtigkeit entkommt. Ein Spieler ist der Mörder und wählt heimlich die Waffe, das Motiv und den Verdächtigen aus. Ein weiterer Spieler ist der Forensiker, der die Beweise analysiert und den Detektiven Hinweise gibt. Alle anderen spielen einen Ermittler und arbeiten gemeinsam daran, herauszufinden, wer Eleanor getötet hat, warum und womit. Was „Cover Up“ auszeichnet, ist sein System aus rätselhaften Hinweisen. In einer Fallakte müssen die Ermittler anhand bruchstückhafter Beschreibungen ein Phantombild erstellen; in einer anderen dürfen sie die Aussage eines Zeugen hinterfragen und erhalten nur teilweise Antworten. Jeder Hinweis deutet auf mehrere Möglichkeiten hin, und die Ermittler müssen entscheiden, welche Interpretation sie der Wahrheit näher bringt. Der Mörder tut mehr, als nur Beweise zu verstecken. Runde für Runde manipuliert er den Informationsfluss, streut falsche Annahmen ein und lenkt die Ermittlungen auf den falschen Verdächtigen, die falsche Waffe oder das falsche Motiv. Kombinationsgabe, Diskussion und Täuschung prallen in einer Kriminalermittlung aufeinander, die von klassischen Detektivgeschichten und Film Noir inspiriert ist.
