ThemaLadybirds
Return to the garden of your childhood to build a tableau of Ladybird Cards! The roses are overgrown, the orchard is crawling with aphids, and only your old friends — the ladybirds — can help restore the garden to its former beauty. Over five summer days you’ll place cards to grow your tableau of ladybird types and rekindle old memories. Each round, players simultaneously reveal a card, place it into one of five colored columns, then perform one of the available garden actions. Completing a full ladybird life cycle (egg → larva → pupa → adult) or clearing aphids from orchard cards boosts the value of your ladybirds. Tension builds as players compete for the right ladybird type and color before opponents snag them first. Score bonus points by completing sets of all five colors, feeding specific ladybird types, and unlocking forgotten childhood memories.

Skjald Spil & Events is an independent Danish board game publisher creating games with something to say. We believe the best games do more than entertain. They bring people closer, create memorable shared experiences, and open doors to stories about nature, history, society, and the choices we face as human beings. Our projects range from accessible social games to larger, story-driven designs. Some are published by Skjald, while others are developed in partnership with fellow publishers. What unites them is a strong and engaging experience at the table—often with deeper layers beneath the surface. Our first release is Ladybird, a cozy yet fiercely competitive tableau-building card game for 1–4 players. Over just 15 rounds, players build colourful point engines by combining ladybird species, colours and life cycles. Easy to learn but full of tension, Ladybird features clever drafting, tactical decisions, and gloriously escalating scores. The game also opens the door to the world & life of the very tiny beings in our gardens, the ladybirds.
