Skjald Spil & Events is an independent Danish board game publisher creating games with something to say. We believe the best games do more than entertain. They bring people closer, create memorable shared experiences, and open doors to stories about nature, history, society, and the choices we face as human beings. Our projects range from accessible social games to larger, story-driven designs. Some are published by Skjald, while others are developed in partnership with fellow publishers. What unites them is a strong and engaging experience at the table—often with deeper layers beneath the surface. Our first release is Ladybird, a cozy yet fiercely competitive tableau-building card game for 1–4 players. Over just 15 rounds, players build colourful point engines by combining ladybird species, colours and life cycles. Easy to learn but full of tension, Ladybird features clever drafting, tactical decisions, and gloriously escalating scores. The game also opens the door to the world & life of the very tiny beings in our gardens, the ladybirds.
