Dark Romance
🇩🇪 Original in German
Deduction game for two 🥰 a dark romance.
Works surprisingly well. Out of the total 11 scenarios, 1 and 2 introduce the game mechanics. From scenario 3 onwards, it gets interesting when all characters are in play.
We embody one of five possible roles, like vampires, werewolves, or demon hunters, and then try to figure out which role our opponent has during the game—because only then do we know what our actual goal is.
We move 5 markers on a round tableau marker toward the center of the tableau. The 5 markers represent 5 possible game outcomes, like romance, rejection, or temptation. For example, if there are 2 vampires in the target, their shared goal is to get the romance marker into the center of the tableau.
If, on the other hand, there’s a vampire and a demon hunter in play, the vampire wins if they manage to get romance into the target area first. The demon hunter, however, wins if the rejection marker reaches the target area first.
We’re hooked—we’ll definitely meet again for another Dark Romance Date!

That was the trade show highlight for some of us on our editorial team in 2025. Feels like something’s missing.
