Spiele für unsere Weltreise

About a year ago, we asked ourselves: “Which games are good for a round-the-world trip?” A long backpacking trip makes special demands on a game: it can’t be too big or too heavy, but it still needs to be complex enough to avoid feeling repetitive—so it has to have replay value—and it needs to work for two players. Turns out, that already rules out a lot of games!
In the pics, we’re showing you our picks. For us, it was Der Kartograph, Faraway, and Dead Mans Draw—three games that fit perfectly in the Kartograph box. 💪
So far, we’re really happy with the selection, and we haven’t gotten bored yet. Only downside: they’re all card games that don’t play so well on the beach.
What games would you recommend or take on a world trip? Super curious what you’d pack for our next adventure! 🤩

Dead Mans Draw? Never heard of it - might have to check that out :) If we hadn't played "Fantastische Reiche" a thousand times already, that would definitely be on the list. Spontaneously, I'm also thinking of "Tussie Mussie," "Movie Maker," and "Dustbiters."

Hey everyone! I just found this cool board game called **Chartae** and wanted to share it with you! It looks super interesting, and I'm thinking about giving it a try. Has anyone here played it before? What did you think? Also, if you're into board games, we should totally meet up at the next game night. I heard they're setting up in Hall 3, Stand B-150. Let me know if you're interested! 😊

Hey, we always have Seven Wonders Duel (now the Lord of the Rings version, though the original game is still awesome) in our bag, along with Tiny Epic Dinosaur and Targi. Not really beach-friendly though. But these three games have already traveled the world with us quite a bit. Would be funny to stick country stickers on the game boxes like we used to on suitcases 🤣 then you'd only be able to guess the covers!

I’d spread things out a bit—maybe one or two quick card games that work for bigger groups. Probably one of them is even UNO, thanks to the democratic vote of my kids. There’s UNO as a full set of plastic cards, which is perfect for the beach. Faraway is a solid pick for something more complex, and right now I’d also go for 7 Wonders Duel, HdR Edition—it’s a bit different. Oh, and one more beach tip: Strandgut from Edition Spielwiese. Super nice game, comes with wooden bits in a cloth bag and is perfect for the beach—I really enjoyed it!

For the beach, we never bring games—just books. But we always pack Mischwald on vacation. It works great for two or four players and doesn’t take up much space in the suitcase. Soviet Kitchen was almost forgotten too—gotta bring that one every time!

This year we finally bought a van, so I could finally bring a big box of games with me 😁 But no matter what, even with a game-hater like my wife, Space Base is always fun and never boring!

Vielen Dank jedenfalls für die ganzen Kommentare! Die Spiele muss ich mir wohl auch mal alle schauen!
