Saltfjord
Fishing, Building, Trading and a Piece of Norway in the Living Room
🇩🇪 Original in German
It had been quite a while since we last went on a playful excursion in Saltfjord. After a few quick pointers during setup, though, everyone was right back into the game and could lose themselves completely in puzzling over and optimizing their turns. We go sailing and fishing, expand our village with new buildings that supply us with resources, improve our technological skills, and trade at the harbor. Who finds the best balance here usually only becomes clear afterward...
Saltfjord convinces not only through its authentic Norway look and superb game components, but also mechanically through a wealth of different options. Particularly interesting is the dice-placement mechanism, through which we activate our buildings and resource production and can nicely get in each other's way. Due to the many options, a continuous flow of play usually doesn't quite emerge and setting up the 2 Mio. little pieces drags on a bit, but the game still rewards with a great gaming feel.

The game has landed on my wishlist a few times, I'm currently watching it on eBay. I always like dice. Antwork doesn't appeal to me quite as much. But I think if the price is good I'll go for it 😉
