Was sind eure Must-Haves fürs Brettspiel-Zimmer?

We’re redoing our board game/dining room next year. We’ve got a few ideas, but I wanted to hear from you all what you consider absolute must-haves for a gaming room.
About the layout: the Kallax is the 5x5 Kallax, and that’s where our games live. The Billy and the lowboard are currently just holding miscellaneous stuff. The sofa bed needs to stay. There will be a photo wallpaper on the right wall, so it can’t be blocked off too much.

I’d definitely plan for speakers. I think it’s awesome to have some mood-setting music that fits the game playing in the background. And a second Kallax 😅

Oh, I hadn’t even thought about speakers. We always have a portable one. That’s actually worth considering. I don’t think a second KALLAX will fit anymore 🫣 I’d love to put a 2x5 in that corner instead of the BILLY, but they don’t make those

Or stack several small Kallax units?

I’m already happy if the table we’re supposed to play on is free 😅

A fridge should definitely go in there too. And from a psychological standpoint, a comfy chair that’s still easy to get out of, placed near the fridge. That usually ends up being the runner’s job anyway 😁 Otherwise, maybe some hanging shelves above the lowboard and, if possible, over the window. It’s a matter of taste, but I’d install indirect RGB lighting wherever you can. 😊 Something we also use occasionally is a projector, which we use to throw matching terrain artwork onto a white wall. Mostly for DnD and stuff like that. The Game Master takes care of that. Sounds a bit decadent, but we just use a cheap, standard-issue projector. It actually works pretty well for creating atmosphere when combined with RGB lighting. Alright, enough rambling from me.

No random shelf mix—just a unified system. I’d rather have more shelf space than photo wallpaper. Love the LOTR posters! If you get a lot of sunlight through the window, make sure your games aren’t sitting in direct light, or the box covers will fade over time.

Just slap in a window for some daylight. Other than that, lots of nerd stuff as decor, and the cherry on top would be a cool board game table.
