Leaders - wie Schach, nur ohne Würfel...

At the start of the vacation, we kicked things off with a solid round of Leaders. This 2-player strategy game doesn’t just come with a super interesting and high-quality design—it also won us over with just one page of rules and some deep strategy. It’s a bit like chess (something chess players would probably throw me out the window for saying), but instead of fixed pieces, we pick our own from a pool of 16, each with unique abilities. The goal is to surround the opponent’s king. We only use up to 5 out of those 16 pieces per game, so every match plays out differently. What’s great about Leaders is that it sets up in 3 minutes and plays in 5-15 minutes. We played about 10 games today, and the scores were pretty even—though I did lose a few before all the pieces were even in play. Absolute must-try if you’re up for a quick duel on the side (even works with a baby on your lap)!
